About

Meet Dr. Julie Spencer

Life can be demanding, even for people who appear successful on the outside. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, perfectionism, relationship challenges, uncertainty about the future, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can help you gain insight, develop new skills, and create lasting change. For athletes and high performers, success often comes with unique pressures. Performance anxiety, confidence concerns, injuries, burnout, identity challenges, and finding balancing within your daily life can all impact performance and well-being. I help athletes and high-achievers develop the skills needed to perform consistently and confidently while supporting their overall growth. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative space where you can better understand yourself, gain effective skills, and move toward the life you want to live. My approach is grounded in evidence-based treatments and tailored to the unique needs and goals of each client. I have dedicated much of my career to working with athletes, high achievers, and young adults navigating both mental health concerns and performance-related challenges. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State University. During my predoctoral internship at Iowa State University's Counseling Services, I received specialized training working with student-athletes. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship within Athletic Medicine at Washington State University, where I provided psychological services exclusively to Division I athletes. I currently serve as the Sport Psychologist at Creighton University, supporting student-athletes through both mental health and performance-focused services. Outside of work, I enjoy running, gardening, and following nearly every sport imaginable. Questions or scheduling inquiries: julie@elitewellnesspsych.com 402-318-5554
